SEA GIRT – A NJ Transit train struck and killed a 21-year-old Spring Lake man who was on the railroad tracks early Saturday morning, approximately 150 feet north of the Washington Boulevard crossing, here.
According to NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel, Marcus Craig was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred at 12:57 a.m.
The train was headed south, to Bay Head.
NJ Transit Police, Sea Girt Police, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Manasquan First Aid Squad responded to the scene.
There were approximately 20 passengers on the train at the time of the incident and there were no injuries to passengers.

WEST LONG BRANCH: Anthony Beltempo, creator of MTV’s controversial reality series “Jersey Shore,” will discuss the communications industry at 8 p.m. today at Monmouth University’s Multipurpose Activity Center, 400 Cedar Ave.
Beltempo majored in communications with a concentration in television and radio studies at Monmouth University, graduating in 1998. He will tell students what to expect in the professional realm of communications, particularly in the TV/radio industry.

BELMAR — After 20 years on the job, Mayor Kenneth Pringle has announced he will not seek re-election in November.
“This has not been an easy decision for me,” Pringle wrote in a letter Friday to constituents. “There is still so much I want to do.”

NY Post: MTV can find some new trash
MTV bosses are calling the bluff of the money-hungry “Jersey Shore” cast by looking for new talent. Sources say MTV reps have been touring Jersey Shore bars for new stars for the next season. We reported last week that the cast — including Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and “Pauly D” Delvecchio –were demanding $10,000 per episode to sign for another season. A source tells us that MTV “would like the popular names to return, but if the cast doesn’t agree to lower their demands, producers can easily replace them with a new team.
